Lisburn Rangers v Orangefield   League

27/11/2010

Stanley Park Lisburn

Orangefield travel to Lisburn on a bitterly cold afternoon for a 1B clash that could have been easily posponed due to the recent weather. The visitors are in good spirits though and are on a tremendous run of form at the moment. One change from last weeks win at Wilgar Park, Tony Craig in for the unavailable Nathan O'Neill. Orangefield are straight on the front foot winning possession from the kick off and attacking down the right with good approach play from Bryan Reynolds. Harvey and Dempster are looking lively up front with some clever movement and getting good support from midfield of Cousins and Craig. Orangefield have plenty of ball in the opening 15 mins but miss a few good chances through Cousins, Dempster and Harvey. The visitors piling on the pressure for the opening goal and are rewarded on 20mins when Harvey in the right place to stab home from six yards after good combination play on the left with Cousins and Cunningham 0-1. Great to see Chris Harvey on the score sheet after a bit of a lean spell by his own standards. The visitors almost have a second five mins later Bryan Reynolds makes a great interseption outside the Lisburn penalty area and is through one on one, takes it round the diving keeper brilliantly but unluckly the ball bobbles on the hard surface and the chance goes begging, (think Bo might have netted that !... Ed)

Orangefield continue to dominate and go two up after a series of corners. A good ball swung in by Cousins that drops at the backpost, David Wilson is first to react and hammers in a low drive passed the keeper 0-2 on 30mins. Its no surprise Lisurn try to get back into the game with some tasty challanges to mix things up but Orangefield are solid at the back marshalled by skipper Andy D'Arcy, the visitors not shy of a tackle or two themselves McNaul and Wilson to mention a few, but its the classy and consistant high level performance of Sam McNaul thats the backbone of Orangefields recent good run of form.

Half-time: 0-2

Orangefield kick off second half looking to kill the game with an early goal but sadly not taking advantage of the chances they are making, Tony Craig who dominated midfield in the 1st half started second half with his ankle heavily strapped due a heavy challange. A committed player who has been unlucky with injury lately, had to be replaced by Quinn after 10 mins. Orangefield were reduced to 10 men 5 mins later when Reynolds was unluckily sent off trying to breakup a faracas after a two footed lunge tackle from the Lisburn centreback. Lisburn tails up and pressing on Orangefields uncertainty are awarded a penalty on 70mins for a dubious hand ball, penalty was converted well which led to a nervy last 20 mins. Orangefield make a tactical change Dean Henderson into full back for Chris Harvey, Lisburn well in the game and pressing for a point but with a solid back line and a good save from Taylor when needed Orangefield hold out for a good three points.
