Orangefield v 1st Bangor - League

9th October 2010

Gibson Park

1st Bangor visit Gibson Park to-day on a poor run of form lying one from bottom of the table, on the other hand a win for Orangefield would see the East Belfast side slip into the top three and close the gap on the league leaders to 1 point. Only one change from last weeks line up young Kyle Cunningham in for Chris Harvey, also good to see Dean Cousins and Glenn Quinn return to the squad for to-days game.

The home team start uphill at a frantic pace missing three good chances in the first few minutes. Dempster hit the crossbar with a header from a corner, O'Neill goes close with a one on one with the keeper and Cunningham has a good effort at the back post from another corner. Bangor look to be in for a torrid afternoon as Orangefield continue to attack the Bangor defence with Dempster picking up a great pass from Craig, he takes the ball into the penalty area on his left and shoots across the keeper into the bottom corner 1-0 on 7mins. A smart finish from the big man who's playing full of confidence.

Orangefield on the attack again and win a free kick just outside the area Young O'Neill steps up to take with a confident swagger and cooly bends it around the wall into the top corner giving the keeper no chance,a peice of magic from ' Euro Bumper '  2-0 on 10mins. To add to Bangors woes they had to make two changes through injury, centre back off with disslocated finger and full back with an ankle injury. Orangefield in total control of the game with a lot of possession Richie and Craig dominating centre midfield Reynolds and Cunningham giving good support to the front two with some great wing play, and when both strikers score within the first 10 mins you can assume your in for a good afternoon. Orangefield almost certainly kill the game when they go 3 up on 20 mins. Good approach play from Reynolds on the right silps in O'Neill who goes round a defender and thunders in a rocket of a shot passed the motionless keeper. Orangefield back four are solid and holding a good line pushing up onto the half way line pressing play as the home team push for more goals, but Bangor rally after a poor start and make more of a game of it and manage to hold an impressive Young Orangefield team to half time.

Half-time: 3-0

Orangefield start the second half downhill but after five mins its clear the home team arn't playing with the same disire as the first 15 mins, Bangor make a few ugly challanges to mix it up trying to disrupt Orangefields fluency and the game becomes scrappy. Orangefield make two changes on 60 mins Cousins For Reynolds and Quinn for Cunningham and immeditatly inject new life into attack, Quinn on the ball in centre midfield and the energy of Cousins start to make things happen as Dempster goes close with a shot on goal after some good approach play from Cousins. Orangefield make a third change on 70 mins Harvey on for O'Neill. Quinn slips the ball into Harvey who goes on a great run beating three or four defenders, manages to get a shot off but blocked by a good tackle. Cousins picks up a pass from Wilson takes on a defender and shoots just inside the box passed the diving keeper, a well taken goal on 80mins 4-0. Orangefield grab another at the death from good approach play from Richie who gets a good ball in for Dempster who gets himself a second with a real poachers goal, a tap in from 4yrds 5-0 on 88mins.

Full-time: 5-0

A great result and a great team performance again this week, with a very young and talented squad now all fit and available apart from Jonny Gibson who's out long term (get well soon kid) its a headache for the manager but he wouldn't have any other way.

MOM  Tony Craig  gave blood and sweat for the cause.

Team : Darlington, Mcnaul R, D'Arcy (capt), McNaul S, Wilson, Cunningham, Richie, Craig, Reynolds

Dempster, O'Neill,  Subs  Cousins, Quinn, Harvey.
