Community Cup Report 2010

Saturday 12th June 2010 saw the fourth Community Cup held at Cregagh Sports Club in glorious sunshine. The format was slightly different this year with the under 13 and 14 competition held in the morning and the under 15 and 16 competition held in the afternoon. The under 13 section was won on the day by Ridgeway winning all their three games. Orangefield finished second, with Barn United third and Donegal Celtic finishing fourth due to the fact that they missed their first match.

The under 14 section was won by Bangor Rangers with three victories. Donegal Celtic finished second, with Bryansburn third and Orangefield fourth.

The afternoon session some close matches but Orangefield run out eventual winners with two wins and a draw. The rest were separated by two points with Oliver Plunkett second, Rosario third and Donegal Celtic fourth.

The under 16 was slightly different as with the late withdrawl of a team Orangefield entered an over 40 team to fill the slot. This worked out very well with the matches involving the over 40 team drawing lots of local interest. The competition drew to a conclusion with what turned out to be a decider between Rosario and Oliver Plunkett with Plunkett winning 2-0 and lifting the trophy. Bloomfield finished third in what was their first outing after having only been together for a week.
