On a brighter note Jonny Gibson returns from long term injury for his 1st start of the season, William Richie returns to central midfield from suspension and David Wilson (capt),and Sam McNaul continue in central defence.
Barn start the game the stronger as you would expect pinning Orangefield in their own half, and get their reward on five mins. A loopy ball knocked over the Orangefield back four and run onto by Barns Chris Shimmons who hit a superb 1st time volley 1-0.
Barns lead didnt last long as the visitors rallied and forced a corner. A good ball in from Gibson that was flicked on at the near post by Dempster, controlled well by Wilson inside the six yard box and stabbed home. 1-1on 10 mins
Orangefield tails up playing with more confidence as William Richie takes controll of the midfield wih some great passing accompanied by Dean Cousins energy and work rate. Gibson and McQuillen strike a good understanding on the left with some good attacking play resulting in a free kick a few yards outside the area. O'Neill steps up to the mark again after his wonder strike last week, and cooly scores with a fantastic strike bent over the wall into the top corner 1-2 on 20mins. Orangefield playing with freedom and confidence without the pressure of the league programme. The back four have regrouped after the early set back and are very assured with Wilson organising the line and young McNaul showing total commitment at full back. Orangefield gain another corner after a good spell of possession, whipped in from the left by Gibson to the near post onto Wilson who had stepped out from the goal line to meet the ball with a thunderous header passed the keeper into the top corner. Barn come at the visitors from the whistle giving their all to get back into the game and were unlucky not to score as Gibson clears of the line. But its Orangefield who strike again on the counter attack as Richie plays a great ball onto the run of McQuillen who cuts back a great shot with his left foot into the bottom corner leaving the keeper no chance 1-4 on 60mins. A change for Orangefield on 65mins Shaw for Cunningham who had put in a tremendous shift on the right flank. McQuillen scored his second and Orangefields fifth on 75 mins as Barn were caught napping at the back, McQuillen ghosted in from the left at the right time to tap into an empty net 1-5. Barn created a few good chances but were cortailed by a fantastic display from young Darlington in the Orangefield goal. Quinn on for McQuillen who had been caught on the shin with a nasty tackle, Barns Keith Millar was sent off with five mins remaining to compound the Home sides misery.
Full-time: 1-5
A fantastic all round performance from a young team that showed great maturity and nerve after conceding early on. The industrious Dempster and creative O'Neill causing havock upfront, the energy and desire from Richie and Cousins in midfield. Tireless work on the flanks from Cunningham and McQuillen through to a solid and well organised back five of McNaul, Wilson, McNaul, Gibson and goalkeeper Darlington who is right back inform. A tremndous result that should give the confidence needed to resume the league assault starting with Downshire at home next week.
